Park City -
Park City and Salt Lake County are poised to follow Salt Lake City's lead, adopting ordinances to protect gay people from housing and job discrimination. Salt Lake City passed an ordinance Tuesday, November 10 applying to all large, non-religious employers and property managers. Religious institutions and small businesses are exempt from the laws.
Park City Mayor Dana Williams said he heard about Salt Lake City's new ordinance and immediately decided to ask his city council if they would like to do something similar. "They were unanimous in their support," Williams said.
Salt Lake County Council Chair Joe Hatch says he surveyed his fellow Democrats on the council. "I think we're pretty much all on board," he said of the group which controls a majority of the county council seats.
