SALT LAKE CITY – Police are investigating after an incident of vandalism at a restaurant near downtown Salt Lake City Wednesday night.

Jorge Fierro said he came to work early Thursday morning at Frida Bistro, located at 545 West 700 South, and found damage to planters, a fountain and a window. He said some pipes were also broken.

Surveillance video shows what appears to be a woman dumping planters out and damaging other items outside the bistro.

Fierro contacted police, who he said asked him whether he had any enemies. But he doesn't believe it had anything to do with that.

"I personally think that, you know, we see a lot of people in this area that have mental issues, mental health issues,” he said. “And so I think that's what it is."

Fierro said the vandalism is part of the much bigger problem of leaving mentally ill people on the streets and not getting them the help they need.

If you recognize the woman in the video, call Salt Lake City PD.
