MILLCREEK, Utah — A Millcreek man was arrested on assault charges after allegedly beating his brother and accusing him of having sex with his girlfriend.

Brett Lockwood, 52, and Chad Lockwood live in separate homes on the same property in the 3100 block of S. 1000 East.

On Oct. 10, Brett found his girlfriend in Chad's residence and accused his brother of inappropriate behavior, according to the police report. Brett tackled Chad and began to choke his brother before Chad was able to escape and grab a bat to fend off Brett.

A neighbor who heard the incident called police, but Brett and his girlfriend had left the property before officials arrived. Chad denied medical attention and refused to be transported to the hospital.

Later in the same evening, police say Brett and his girlfriend returned to Chad's home and accused his brother of sexually assaulting the woman without her consent as she slept on his bed. Police report Brett began assaulting Chad a second time.

During the second assault, Brett grabbed Chad's phone and smashed it as he kicked his brother while telling him "I'm going to kill you."

Police arrived and found Chad laying in the driveway with multiple injuries. Brett and the girlfriend had once again left the property before police were on the scene. Chad was transported to the hospital where he was found to have broken ribs, a punctured lung and a broken toe.

Chad warned police he feared for his life due to Brett having firearms on the property and that he could be a danger to him and others.

Detectives with the Millcreek Street Crimes Unit received a warrant to cell-phone ping Brett's phone to locate Lockwood and his girlfriend.

On Oct. 16, following Chad's release from the hospital, a ping showed Brett near the property where the alleged assaults occurred. Once at the location, a detective spotted Brett's pick-up truck with a license plate that matched police records.

The detective followed Brett Lockwood and the woman when they left the property and was able to take the couple into custody a short time later.

Lockwood refused to speak to detectives and was arrested on multiple charges, including aggravated assault. The girlfriend was allowed to leave the area and was not charged, although she also refused to speak with law enforcement.
