Southern Utah residents celebrate pioneer heritage

Posted

SOUTHERN UTAH – Residents in southern Utah braved the heat to celebrate Pioneer Day with parades on Wednesday.

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was one high-profile guest at a parade in Washington City.

“Any time you get a chance to come home, it's terrific,” he said. “And it’s wonderful that they'd throw a parade.”

Holland’s presence in the parade was part of a series of parade entries aimed at honoring the LDS pioneers who helped settle Utah’s cities.

FOX 13 News’ Zach Whitney was at the parade Wednesday, see the video above for more on the Pioneer Day festivities.
