SALT LAKE CITY -- A mass reception was held at The Rail Event Center in Salt Lake City Saturday night, and more than 1,000 people came out to celebrate several same-sex couples who were married in Utah.
The couples find themselves facing uncertainty after a federal judge struck down Utah's ban on same-sex marriage, which allowed them to be married. Later, another judge put a stay on same-sex marriages in Utah pending the result of an appeal. Utah Gov. Gary Herbert has said the state will not recognize the marriages of same-sex couples who were wed in Utah.
Saturday night's event was put together through donations from a variety of people, and the event sought to raise funds for Restore Our Humanity, which is a group working toward making same-sex marriage legal in Utah.
FOX 13 News' Todd Tanner was at the event, see the video above for his live report.
