Church helps community prepare for disasters

Posted

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held an emergency preparedness fair Saturday in order to help Utahns get ready for a variety of potential hardships.

The fair featured speakers, classes and activities all geared toward helping people prepare for worst case scenarios, and topics included first aid, filtering water, financial planning and much more.

Event Sponsor Rebecca Teece said disasters can come in many forms.

“It doesn’t matter whether you’re preparing for a natural catastrophe, a flood, earthquake, it could be financial duress, it could be anything that happens in an emergency,” she said.

The event was free to the public.
