New statewide COVID-19 totals have been released by the Utah Department of Health.
There are now 7,238 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Utah. That’s an increase of 170 newly reported cases since Saturday.
3,978 new tests bring the new total of people tested for the virus to 170,752 statewide.
Since March, 586 total people have been hospitalized in relation to COVID-19. That total includes 8 new hospitalizations. 103 people are currently hospitalized.
Approximately 4,075 people have recovered from the virus. Compared to the statewide totals, approximately 56% of those infected have recovered.
There are 2 new deaths, bringing the statewide total to 80.
Both of the new deaths reported were residents of Salt Lake County; a man between the ages of 60 and 85 who was hospitalized at the time of death, and a woman older than 85 who was a resident of a long-term care facility.
The Utah Department of Health is not expected to hold a press conference on these new totals. The next conference in which numbers will be discussed is scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, May 18.
