DRAPER, Utah — Draper Mayor Troy Walker is urging the city's residents to be mindful of COVID-19 precautions after a huge spike in cumulative case counts this month.

"On September 1, our seven-day rolling cumulative case count was 34 – and now it is 129, an increase of 380%," Walker said in a statement, citing data collected by Salt Lake County.

The majority of the increase in cases were in people ages 15-19, the statement said.

Walker and Corner Canyon High School Head Football Coach Eric Kjar also released a video urging people to wear masks and practice social distancing:

"We need to work together to keep our families and friends healthy. Our teenagers need to especially take care to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 as they attend school," Mayor Walker's statement said.
