Five new COVID-19 related deaths reported in latest Utah Department of Health numbers

The Department of Health has released new totals of COVID-19 across the state.

As of Saturday, there are now 6,103 lab-confirmed cases. That’s an increase of 184 from Friday’s total of 5,919.

Approximately 143,294 people have been tested. Based on the new total, Utah’s positive testing rate is approximately 4.25%.

498 people have been hospitalized in relation to the virus, which is approximately 8.1% of all positive cases.

An estimated 2,901 people have recovered, and 66 have died. That’s an increase of 5 new deaths since Friday.

Four of the new deaths were Salt Lake County residents; one male and three women over the age of 60. Three of those deaths were associated with a long-term care facility. The fifth death was a San Juan County man under the age of 60.

The Department of Health will not be having a press release to discuss the new numbers.
