LOGAN, Utah — Logan City announced the closure of its library and recreation center Monday due to a recent increase in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Cache County.

The library is closing Monday until further notice, a news release from the city said, but other options for checking out books will be available. Call 435-716-9123 or visit library.loganutah.org for further information.

The Logan Community Recreation Center will close beginning Tuesday until further notice.

"[Recreation center staff] will be evaluating other recreation programs. The City and School District are working together to determine potential future availability for school athletic teams," the news release said.

The city urges its residents to continue wearing masks, maintain social distancing, and wash or sanitize their hands often. The city is also encouraging people to wear masks when visiting city offices and starting Monday.

"If individuals prefer to not wear a mask, we invite them to work with us online or over the phone. We encourage other businesses to do the same," the news release said.

According to the news release, the city will use federal funds to support the Cache Community Food Pantry, and they'll make city employees available to assist the Bear River Health Department in dropping off food and supplies to families who are in quarantine.
