SALT LAKE CITY — Two more Utahns have died of COVID-19 according to statistics released Thursday afternoon by the Utah Department of Health.

That brings the total number of deaths in Utah to 106.

215 new cases were reported. That's a growth rate of 2.5 percent from Wednesday and the total in Utah now stands at 8,921.

"Over the past week however, we have seen an increase of 1,047 for an average daily growth rate of only 1.8 percent," said State Epidemiologist, Dr. Angela Dunn.

18 new hospitalizations were required since Wednesday.

"However our active hospitalizations are only at 97," Dr. Dunn added. "We had 109 last week, so that is a decrease in our active hospitalizations due to COVID-19."

The total number of Utahns who've been tested for COVID-19 is 203,507. That's up 2,881 from Wednesday and the positive percentage rate is 4.4 percent.
