SALT LAKE CITY — Intermountain Healthcare is purchasing locally made sanitizer during the coronavirus pandemic.

Salt Flats Spirits says Intermountain bought roughly 1,000 bottles of the 80 percent ethyl alcohol liquid -- 20 percent higher alcohol content than regular Purel.

Salt Flats says it's compliant with health standards, and the recipe follows the recipe outlined by the World Health Organization.

Intermountain won't use the sanitizer for patients but plans to use it for caregivers and out-of-hospital employees.

The sanitizer is also for sale to the public.
