MURRAY, Utah — Fire crews in Murray are working to put out a fire that has been burning for several hours.

It began at about 9 p.m. Thursday at an empty warehouse near I-15 and 4500 South.

Because of the intensity of the fire, crews took a defensive approach.

Murray Fire Marshal Joey Mittleman said the floor is not structurally sound so the fire will be allowed to smolder and run its course.

Firefighters are monitoring the blaze and say it should be out by afternoon.

The site will then be turned back over the building owners and managers.

Firefighters are familiar with the building, they've responded to several fires there before.

"This is a vacant building so we'll continue to work with the property owner to mitigate these fires that continue to happen," Murray City Fire Chief Travis Bodtcher.

No injuries have been reported and investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire this time around.
