In a sprawling garden growing between warehouses on Salt Lake City’s West Side, Wasatch Community Gardens is growing more than just fruits and vegetables.

Dozens of women, some experiencing homelessness, others, single mothers living in poverty are growing their job skills.

The programs are formally called the Green Phoenix Farm and the Seeds of Success.

In both programs, women work in the garden and are mentored in both gardening and life skills.

The programs have different requirements and women stay for varying amounts of time, but the end goal is always gainful employment and stable housing.
