The "dog days" of summer refer to the period between July 3 - August 11, when we typically get the hottest temps of the season. Although, the highest temp so far this year in Salt Lake City was 104 degrees in late June. The mercury won't climb anywhere close to that over the next few days, but it is going stay hot!
In addition to the heat, dry & windy conditions will keep fire danger high across much of Central & Southern Utah through Thursday. Isolated dry t-storms could pop up over the mountains as well.
A weak, but dry cool front will cross the north late Thursday into Friday. Any relief will be minimal, with temps only dropping a few degrees by the weekend.
