A Weber County deputy saved an infant's life Wednesday night.

Deputy Tyler Greenhalgh was called to a home in Washington Terrace, Utah where a two-week old boy was not breathing.

"I kinda just reacted," said Deputy Greenhalgh.  He says he determined the baby was not breathing and started to perform CPR.  "Low and behold, he took a gasp."

Easton VanDyke was rushed to Primary Children's Medical Center, where he is in an intensive care unit and being treated for RSV.  Doctors expect him to make a full recovery.

The Weber County Sheriff's Office has been cross training deputies as Emergency Medical Technicians so they can help before paramedics arrive.  In this case, Deputy Greenhalgh was less than a minute from the VanDyke's home when the call came in.

Deputy Greenhalgh said this was one of the most thrilling moments of his career.  He said when the baby took a breath, "it kinda caught me off guard, made me jump a little bit."
