The underground parking garage at City Creek Center opened on Tuesday.

The garage offers 5,000 parking spaces and spans two blocks.  The spaces have been designed to accommodate Utah's many large SUVs.

The first hour of parking is free, while the second hour costs $1.  There is a $20 maximum daily fee and many of the stores will provide validation.

"Parking here is easy.  It's simple.  There are six entrances into the parking garages.  You can pull in from virtually wherever you are downtown," said Linda Wardell, general manager of City Creek Center.

City Creek Center is also accessible by public transit.  TRAX has the ability to bring 4,000 people into the area every hour, with several stops nears the center.

There are also several thousand metered parking spots on nearby streets.  The metered spots are often free for two hours on Saturday, free all day on Sunday and every night after 6 p.m.

City Creek Center is scheduled to open on Thursday, March 22.
