The man accused of killing an officer and wounding five others during a drug raid in Ogden was back in court Monday.

Matthew Stewart is charged with aggravated murder and seven counts of attempted aggravated murder.  He is accused of opening fire on the Weber Narcotics Task Force as they were serving a search warrant at his home in January.

"My heart goes out to the families of everybody," said Michael Stewart, father of Matthew Stewart.  "It's affected us in a terrible way, but our hearts still go out to families of the officers and their families. I know they're going through a lot of things and we just hope that everybody can get through this and heal."

A status hearing is scheduled for May 19 and tentative preliminary hearing dates have been set for July.

Weber County Attorney Dee Smith has said he will push for the death penalty in this case.
