SLVHD to close on Tuesday for Great Utah ShakeOut

Posted

The “Great Utah ShakeOut” will take place on Tuesday morning, and some local agencies will be closed to help with the earthquake drill.

Salt Lake Valley Health Dept. offices and public health clinics will be closed for emergency response training. They say the closure will allow for all health department employees to participate in the state-wide exercise. Employees in the department play a critical part in any natural disaster; they will train to assist victims with water and shelter and to monitor injuries.

The Great Utah ShakeOut is the largest earthquake drill in Utah’s history with nearly 900,000 people already signed up to participate.
