SALT LAKE CITY – Thousands of Utah families gathered in Salt Lake City to raise money for cystic fibrosis on Saturday.

Cystic fibrosis is one of the most common chronic lung diseases in children and young adults, but it can also be a life-threatening disorder.

Saturday’s Great Strides walk is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s largest fundraising event.

“We’re walking today to find a cure for cystic fibrosis to hopefully extend the life of our cousin Kasey and also everyone else who suffers from cystic fibrosis,” said Heather Gines.

Fox 13’s Gene Kennedy, whose son has cystic fibrosis, was among the participants Saturday.
