The Big East is losing West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Syracuse. They’ll be adding six schools, including Boise State and San Diego State next year to get to 12 teams.
Navy will become the 13th member when they join in 2015, and the Big East wants a 14th member to make two 7-team divisions.
BYU officials haven’t said anything about the Big East, but in the past, they’ve said that the school is happy to remain as an independent in football and a member of the West Coast Conference in basketball.
