Downtown TRAX stations expected to reopen Friday

Posted

SALT LAKE CITY – Three downtown TRAX stations will be reopening on Friday after three weeks of construction.

The Planetarium, Old Greek Town and Salt Lake Central Stations closed on May 5 while construction crews connected the new Airport TRAX line to the existing system.

Construction was expected to be completed on Wednesday, followed by a day of testing on Thursday. After a full day of successful testing, service is expected to resume Friday.

“Testing must be completed successfully before we can resume passenger service,” UTA Rail Services General Manager Paul O’Brien said. “As long as everything checks out on Thursday, we’ll be ready to start carrying passengers on Friday.”

Until TRAX service resumes, a shuttle bus will continue to transport passengers between the Salt Lake Central Station and central business district on a 15-minute interval between 5:25 a.m. and 11:45 p.m.
