SALT LAKE CITY — A 3 to 5-acre brush fire that was burning in Battle Creek Canyon east of Pleasant Grove Tuesday night has been mostly put out.
The U.S. Forest Service says the fire was on undeveloped land above Kiwanas Park. It started at about 7 p.m. and was contained by about 8:30 p.m.
Crews from Utah County and the Forest Service helped control the blaze. It did not threaten any buildings as its path went uphill away from the park rather than toward homes and city structures.
A 10-person ground crew were deployed to help and a helicopter was flown in to drop buckets of water on the flames.
As of 9 p.m. crews were mostly putting out hot spots.
