Expert says air quality not overly impacted by fire, smoke

Posted

Ash and smoke from the wildfire between Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs is being reported in many areas around the Salt Lake Valley and up to Park City on Friday.

"Actually it looks a lot worse than what is really is," said Donna Kemp Spangler, Utah Division of Air Quality.

The winds are disbursing the smoke up into the atmosphere, helping the air quality, according to Kemp Spangler.

She said their air monitors are not showing any dangerously high levels of pollution, but people who have a history of breathing issues should be cautious.

"People who have difficulty breathing in these types of conditions, then definitely they should be taking precautions to stay inside," Kemp Spangler said.
