An injured man was rescued near Willard Peak Wednesday night after getting lost with his hiking group in Weber County.
Rescuers followed the sound of a whistle being blown by the injured 53-year-old man, according to Weber County Watch Commander Sgt. Ryon Hadley.
The man was treated for a minor ankle injury from a fall that occurred during the hike.
Hadley says the man was hiking with four members from his church group, including three teens and a 22-year-old man, when they got lost while walking a trail from North Fork Park to Willard Peak.
Hadley says the other four also had to be rescued after they got into trouble deciding to take a short-cut that stranded them on some cliffs.
The injured man initially called the Weber County Sheriff’s Office by cell phone. He was air-lifted at about 9:30 p.m.
