Posted

OREM, Utah – Police in Orem are warning senior citizens on Medicare of a phone scam.

They say the caller says he or she represents YR Benefits and tells senior citizens that their Medicare card has expired then asks for a home address and bank account number in order to issue a new card.

That information is then used to electrically withdraw money from the victim’s bank account.

Police say there are about 80 victims nationwide, including one in Orem.
