SALT LAKE CITY – A UPD cold case detective is now a member of the exclusive Vidocq Society.

Detective Todd Park joins 82 other forensic professionals worldwide who work to solve cold cases.

Park says the work he does isn’t like what we see on TV.

“It’s a lot of tenacious hard work to keep looking at these cases,” he said. “Reading over them time and time again thinking there’s something in that file that may help for the next lead – that’s the biggest thing for me.”

Park recently cracked the 1989 murder of Felicia Pappas, who was raped and killed when she was 17 years old. Park was able to DNA match and charge Thomas Noffsinger in her case.

Noffsinger is already serving a life sentence for murdering a man in 1990.
