OMG Fire west of St. George is contained

Update July 23: The OMG Fire has been mapped at 2,710 acres and 100 percent contained at 9:30 a.m. Monday.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah – A 1,300-acre wildfire is burning in Washington County.

Wildfire officials say the lightning-caused OMG Fire started near the OMG Gold Mining Mill, west of St. George. It was 20 percent contained Sunday afternoon.

Officials say the fire, which is visible from St. George, may cause closures to Highway 91.
