Motorcyclist survives 100-foot plunge

BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON, Utah – A motorcyclist suffered only minor injuries after driving off the side of the road and 100 feet down the side of Big Cottonwood Canyon on Sunday.

Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal says the motorcyclist was heading eastbound up Big Cottonwood Canyon drifted too far onto the shoulder and drove off the side of the canyon and down 100 feet. He was wearing a helmet and only suffered minor injuries.

Hoyal says that when officers arrived, the man was hiking back up the hill to meet them.
