WEST JORDAN, Utah - Farmers markets are sprouting up across the Wasatch Front, including a market West Jordan.
The market in West Jordan focuses on quick, easy and affordable fresh produce.
"This farmers market isn't meant for you to come and spend hours or half a day. It's stop in, grab what you need and get home in time to make it for dinner," said Julie Brown, events coordinator for the City of West Jordan.
In addition to providing fresh produce, farmers markets help keep local farmers in business.
"I know there's less and less farmers around so that's why everyone's getting a push to support the local farmers. Because if no one buys from local farmers no one's going to want to farm," said Brown.
Most of the produce for sale at the farmers market is comparable to produce purchased in the grocery store. And the wares at the market are guaranteed to be fresh and of higher quality than those found in stores.
Farmers come from across the state to sell their produce.
"These are Brigham City peaches that we grow up on our farms, they're all the sierra gem variety and they're really good"
The West Jordan Farmers Market is held at the Jordan School District parking lot (7875 South Redwood Road) from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays through October.
