SALT LAKE CITY – Members of the public-private partnership gathered to discuss a behavioral therapy program to treat young autistic children.

Legislators hope the pilot program will save money in the long run and parents are grateful to have some help.

“We’ve saved the state dollars because the child that doesn’t receive early treatment will need education services all the way through school,” said Rep. Rhonda Rudd Menlove, R-Box Elder County.

The pilot program will run for two years but doesn’t provide treatment for children over six years old.
