A former Summit County Sheriff’s deputy has been charged with abusing a 4-year-old boy.
Corey Staley, 33, was charged Wednesday with second-degree felony child abuse in 3rd district court.
According to charging documents, Staley was caring for the boy on April 12 when the child started crying. Police claim Staley became frustrated and choked the child with enough force to leave marks and scratches.
Staley has since resigned from the sheriff’s office and is scheduled to appear in court September.
