SALT LAKE CITY – A bill intended to protect children from predators was passed by the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday.

The legislation was authored by U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, and aims to ensure that nationwide background checks are accessible to organizations that provide care, supervision, treatment and recreation to children.

That means child care organizations will have a permanent nationwide background check system.
