SALT LAKE CITY – Two people accused of stealing an RV and forging at least one check have been indicted on several charges.
Police say Shauntae Leah Stratton and Joseph Lee Chatwin turned a $30 cashier’s check into a $30,000 check and drove away in a stolen RV before the owner realized the check was a forgery.
Officers caught the couple, but police say Stratton fought with police, allowing Chatwin time to escape. Chatwin allegedly broke out of the police car while handcuffed and got away by stealing a Hummer H3.
In addition to forged check charges, Chatwin also faces charges for drug and weapons possession as well as assault on an officer.
