SALT LAKE CITY - The rifle buck deer hunt kicks off in Utah on Saturday. More than 52,000 hunters and their families and friends are expected to head out to Utah's backcountry this weekend.
The group Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry is working with a couple game processing centers - Arnold's in Ogden and Clay Meier Game Processing in Draper - along the Wasatch Front to take donated deer meat to feed the hungry.
"Food banks are always asking for high-protein meats. That's the thing that they lack the most. They get all of the canned goods, the boxed goods, things like that. But the high-protein meat is what they really lack," said Kelly Bingham with Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry.
Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry will pay for the processing of anyone willing to donate part or all of their take to the group. For more information, visit www.fhfh.org.
