KEARNS, Utah — The newly revamped intersection at 5400 South and 4015 West was opened to motorists over the weekend.
The Utah Department of Transportation said the intersection has a new feature called a “ThrU-Turn”, which is designed to eliminate left-turns by re-routing vehicles to U-turn locations. UDOT hopes to increase traffic safety by limiting vehicles turning left.

The ThrU-Turn feature is also part of a road-widening project on 5400 South between Bangerter and 4800 West, which will now have seven lanes and wider sidewalks.
The project was possible after three dozen homes and some businesses were torn down.
