A Salt Lake City man was killed Tuesday afternoon in an industrial accident in Saratoga Springs.
The accident happened at about 2:30 near 800 W and 1200 N. Nicholaus Blatnick, 31, died instantly in an accident involving an asphalt zipper.
Blatnick was a sub-contractor who was working alongside the roadway after a gas pipe was installed.
The exact cause of the accident was still under investigation Tuesday evening.
"We're not sure how he got involved with the machinery, so that's as much as I'm going to say right now until I know anything further," said Aaron Rosen, Saratoga Springs Police Department.
A crisis intervention team provided grief counseling for Blatnick's co-workers Tuesday afternoon.
