SALT LAKE CITY – A bronze statue stolen from Davis Park over the weekend has been located.

The 100-pound, 4-foot statue went missing from Davis Park, located near 900 South and 2000 East in Salt Lake City, on Sunday.

Police say they were notified on Monday by a nearby resident that the statue was spotted in the backyard of a resident who’d thrown a party over the weekend.

That person was arrested for felony theft of the statue.

“The resident said yes there had been a party last Friday and he put police in contact with someone who had notified him about the statue. Police contacted tahat person and they arrested that person for felony theft of the statue,” said Salt Lake City Police Det. Dennis McGowan.

The statue has been impounded for evidence, but police say it will be returned to the park soon.
