MILLARD COUNTY, Utah – The family of a man shot and killed by a Millard County Sheriff’s deputy plans to file a wrongful death lawsuit.

The family protested in November, claiming the story given to them by Sheriff Robert Dekker doesn’t add up.

The Sheriff’s Office says a Millard County Sheriff’s deputy shot and killed Cory Kanosh after a high-speed chase. The deputy claims Kanosh attacked him, so he shot him in self-defense, but the family says Kanosh’s body didn’t show any signs of an attack.

The family plans to file the lawsuit Thursday.
