FORT DUCHESNE, Utah – A boy is dead after a head-on crash along SR-40 near Fort Duchesne Thursday evening.
Utah Highway Patrol officials say that two vehicles traveling towards each other along SR-40 when one of the vehicles crossed the center lane – possibly because of a flat tire – and struck the other vehicle head-on near milepost 130.
The vehicle that crossed the center lane was split into two and two of its occupants were ejected. One, 12-year-old Carleton “CJ” Seely from Roosevelt, was declared dead at the scene.
The driver, 34-year-old Angela Davis from Roosevelt, suffered critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital. She was then transported via medical helicopter to a Salt Lake City area hospital.
The driver of the second vehicle, 51-year-old Blair Kay from Mona, suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital as a precaution.
The crash is still under investigation.
