Utah attorney killed in single-vehicle rollover

FILLMORE, Utah – A high-profile Utah attorney was killed in a crash on Interstate 15 Wednesday night.

The Utah Highway Patrol says James Slavens was driving alone when he skidded off the left shoulder of the Fillmore exit, rolled his car and was ejected.

Troopers say Slavens wasn’t wearing a seat belt and alcohol may have been a factor.

Slavens was representing death row inmate Michael Anthony Archuleta. He also represented Ruben Chavez-Reyes, who was convicted for his role in the murder of Millard County Sheriff’s Deputy Josie Greathouse Fox.
