SALT LAKE CITY - A Utah soldier's return home Thursday after eleven months in Afghanistan was a surprise Christmas present for some family members.
Family and friends gathered to meet Army Private First Class Brad Gibson, who spent eleven months in Lagman, Afghanistan, at Salt Lake City International Airport on Thursday.
Brad's mom wasn't there...she didn't know he's back in Utah, so Brad decided to give her an extra special Christmas present.
"Today has been the best day and surprise ever. And Christmas Day will just top it off; to have the whole family including Brad there, I can't wait," Janet, Brad's mom said.
Brad also paid a special visit to Foxburrow Elementary to surprise some of his younger family members. He then spent the rest of the day serving turkey dinner to veterans.
