SALT LAKE CITY - One Utah soldier returned to Utah and reunited with his family just in time for Christmas.
Sgt. First Class Al Beyer spent most of his last year in the Middle East and Fort Dix in New Jersey. He wasn't expected to get back to Utah and his new wife until next February.
"Life is on hold for a whole year that he's gone. So just kind of keep yourself busy and that kind of stuff," said Amy Beyer, his wife.
But the timing worked out that Beyer and some of his fellow servicemen were able to get back in time just in time for Christmas. They were welcomed at the Salt lake International Airport on Sunday.
"Finally being able to see him again and touch him; know that he's here, no one will ever know. Its a great feeling," Amy said.
Sgt. Beyer's son, who is in the Navy, is also deployed. Their family is looking forward to him coming home soon as well.
