MAGNA, Utah - A man was arrested early Friday morning after Unified Police detectives said they found a large quantity of marijuana in a Magna home.
UPD received an anonymous tip a little over a month ago about a large amount of the drug being sold at 8780 West Edith Circle.
Detectives opened an investigation and obtained a warrant to search the home. In a statement released Friday, Unified Police said they found approximately 40 pounds of marijuana, $67,000 in cash and 12 live marijuana plants.
Matthew White, 31, was arrested in connection with the bust. He allegedly confessed to police that he sold marijuana from his home and that he was growing some for personal use.
Police say they've never dealt with White before and that he has no criminal history.
"My personal belief is this gentleman has been getting away with it for years and it's been lucrative for him. He's been under our radar and without the tipster it would have been difficult to find him," said Sgt. Evan Mallas, Unified Police Dept.
White faces charges of possession of marijuana (16 oz. to 100 lbs.) and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Both charges are third-degree felonies.
