Avalanche danger high in Cache Co. mountains

CACHE COUNTY, Utah — Recent storms have brought high snowpack to Utah mountains, which leads to higher avalanche danger.

The avalanche danger level is high Thursday in the Logan area mountains.

According to the Utah Avalanche Center, steep slopes in the backcountry above 7,000 feet can be dangerous. The area below 7,000 feet has moderate danger.

Also mountain areas from Ogden to Price have considerable avalanche danger.

Experts warn people to stay out of the steep terrain and upper elevations.

In the Skyline area mountains the avalanche danger is high for areas at or above the tree line.
