MIDVALE, Utah -- Several schools were placed on lockdown Tuesday morning while police investigated a shooting at a home in a nearby neighborhood.
That lockdown was lifted at approximately 10:15 a.m. because police do not believe there are victims, suspects or persons of interest in the schools.
Police responded to a shooting at 8286 S. Adams Street (450 West) at about 8 a.m. Three people were killed and another adult woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Click here for thelatest information on the Midvale shooting incident.
The schools placed on lockdown included Midvale Elementary, Midvale Middle, Copperview Elementary, Midvalley Elementary, Sandy Elementary, East Midvale Elementary and Jordan Valley School.
They were placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure, according to Jennifer Toomer-Cook, Canyons School District spokeswoman.
"The task at hand is to make sure that we follow the direction from the police department and make sure our schools are locked and safe and no one goes in or out at this time," said Toomer-Cook. "All students are safe right now. We are working closely with the police department and class is going on as normal."
