HEBER, Utah - Teachers at Old Mill Elementary in Heber encouraged students to read by promising a wild ride for the principal and school mascot.
If the kids read 500,000 minutes in one month, the principal and mascot would ride a mechanical bull.
"Whatever you can do to get kids excited about the reading process and get them to put a book in front of them, I'm game for," said principal Doug Hardy.
Fourth grade teacher Amber Rail says some of the students read for more than an hour each day.
With 580 students at the school, each kid had to read about 900 minutes in February.
