Man drives vehicle through front of store

TOOELE, Utah -- A Tooele business was damaged and a man injured when he drove his car through the front of a store on Sunday afternoon.

Aaron Farris works at the LA Smoke Shop in Tooele. Farris said he was helping a customer when they suddenly heard a loud noise and dust filled the room.

“We heard a loud explosion, and the whole front of the store just came right in the store at us,” he said.

Farris said it took them a while to understand what had happened.

“After it finally cleared out a little bit we worked our way outside and found this car sitting here,” he said. “We were all in awe.”

Farris said it was quite a shock, but no one inside the store was injured—only the driver of the vehicle was hurt.

“It was bad,” he said. “Everything just flew right in at us. No one got hurt inside, and we came out and found the guy out here in the car just kind of incoherent, almost knocked out.”

Farris said the man was unresponsive at first, but he came around when medical help arrived.

“His eyes were shut, and he was kind seizing a little bit,” Farris said. “He had blood coming out of his mouth, didn’t really say anything. But when the paramedics finally showed up he finally started waking up, and they got him to where his eyes were open and he was moving around.”

The man was transported to a hospital. His condition is unknown.
