WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah -- A woman who was praying in a West Valley cemetery was the victim of a theft Saturday night, and now she is pleading with those responsible to return items of incredible sentimental value.
Sharon Armijo said she kept several mementos in her purse, including the obituaries of her son and husband, pictures of them, and a small canister of cremated ashes.
Armijo said she left her car door unlocked while she visited her son’s grave at Valley Memorial Park, and while her back was turned someone stole the handbag. Her 16-year-old son died last year in a car crash, along with another Hunter High School junior.
Armijo said after all she’s lost, the only things she cares about are the mementos of her loved ones.
"I don’t care about the money or the credit cards or anything, but I have my son’s driver’s license, pictures of my husband, obituaries—I have his friend’s ashes,” she said. “I want my personal stuff back."
Anyone with information regarding the theft is encouraged to call West Valley police.
