ST. GEORGE, Utah — Two apartments in St. George were heavily damaged by fire on Monday afternoon.
Firefighters found smoke and flames pouring out of the apartment units, located at 2929 East and 450 North, when they arrived shortly before 1 p.m.
No one living in the unit was at home during the fire, and maintenance workers evacuated everyone else in the building. Those evacuated are being helped by the American Red Cross.
The fire caused about $120,000 in damages. Fire crews said they suspect the fire was caused by chemicals that were stored on a wooden deck.
